Issues of social support for indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, education in nomadic tribal communities, problems of hunting and traditional fishing, sustainable development of reindeer husbandry will be discussed on March 9-11 at the 2nd Congress of the Union of Communities of Indigenous Peoples of Yakutia.
The organization is headed by the leader of Bugat community of the Neryungri district Aleksandr Grigoriev. The members of the organization are going to elect a new Chairman of the Union.
To date, the Republic has registered more than 200 communities, leading a traditional way of life. Indigenous peoples of the North, united in them, still continue the work of their ancestors – reindeer breeding, fishing and hunting.
